LOS AL MAIN EVENT
The championship game was the long-awaited Mayfair-Los Al matchup. The game plan
for Los Al was simple: to stop Josh Childress. However Childress displayed one
of his better games, scoring 25 points, and Mayfair walked away with the
trophy in a 63-51 win over the Griffs. Childress was named MVP of the 2nd Main
Event, while Jeff Grgas and Ryan Keller were voted to the All-Tourney team.

In the final Pool Play of the Los Al Main Event, the Griffins faced a very
strong and athletic John Muir team. The Mustangs had a college level speed
that caused problems for Los Al early in the game. After seeing their 20-10
lead evaporing by a full-court man press by Muir, Los Al came back in the 3rd
quarter to display its best basketball of the season, outscoring its opponent
25-9 in the 3rd quarter and never looked back. Jeff Grgas went unconscious
during that 3rd quarter run, scoring 14 points, totaling 28 for the night,
including 10 rebounds. Grgas performance marked his season high. The unsung
hero of the night cap was Ryan Keller, who was robbed of 2 charges and played
in foul trouble most of the night, scored 14 points. Junior Forward Brian
Rakusin came off the bench to add 14 points. Los Al will face
Josh Childress and Mayfair in the championship game on Saturday.
Muir Game Stats

In the second day of competition against a strong and athletic Verbum Dei team,
Los Al started out quick and with high intensity. The Griffins jumped to a 7-0
lead in the first 3 minutes of the game, when the Eagles had to call a time-out
, attempting to slow down the game. Led by a 2nd consecutive Double-Double by
Kenny "Worm" Carter (18 pts, 12 boards) and Ron Prettyman added 19 pts
including 3 behind the circle to pace the Griffins to a 6-0 record. Hassan
Adams of the Eagles lead the game with 20 points. Among the crowd in the
stands are Roy Williams (Kansas) and Ron Palmer (LB Poly). Los Al meets a
very good and fast team, John Muir of Pasadena on Thursday night.

early in the game and must sit for most of the 1st half. Brian Rakusin came
